How VectorAlert Works

VectorAlert gives you advance warning of nearby emergency service vehicles — marked and unmarked — before you can see or hear them.

Emergency vehicles are always transmitting

Every police car, ambulance and fire engine fitted with a radio automatically transmits short periodic signals to stay connected to the network. This happens continuously — even when the vehicle is not actively communicating, even when no sirens or lights are in use. Marked and unmarked vehicles alike.

VectorAlert detects the signal

VectorAlert continuously scans the frequency bands used by UK emergency services. When it detects radio activity it analyses the signal pattern and strength in real time. No message content is ever accessed or decoded — VectorAlert only recognises that a signal is present.

You get an alert

The moment VectorAlert detects activity you receive both a visual alert on the colour display and an audible tone. The signal strength indicator shows you how close the vehicle is — giving you a clear picture of the situation, not just a simple alarm.

You have time to react

With up to 1,000 metres of advance warning you have the time to check your mirrors, reduce speed and move aside safely and calmly. No sudden reactions, no last second surprises.

What makes VectorAlert different

Signal strength display

VectorAlert shows you how strong the detected signal is, giving you a real time indication of how close an emergency vehicle is to your position.

Speed-linked alerts

Alert sensitivity adjusts based on your speed. Different alert patterns at different speeds mean you always get relevant, timely information.

Simple web setup

Configure VectorAlert from your phone browser. No apps, no cables, no technical knowledge required. Updates delivered wirelessly for free.

VectorAlert is a passive signal awareness device. It does not decode, intercept or record any communications. Legal to use in the UK.
