VectorAlert is engineered to professional standards. Here is what is inside.

Display

Full colour backlit TFT display with adaptive multi-target presentation. When a single target is detected VectorAlert displays a full-width signal strength bar graph for maximum clarity. When multiple targets are detected simultaneously the display automatically adjusts its layout to show each target independently with its own signal strength indication. No information is lost and no targets are missed.

Audio

VectorAlert features a built-in speaker driven by a dedicated amplifier, delivering up to 2 Watts of clean audio output. Unlike basic devices that emit a simple on/off beep, VectorAlert produces full melodic alert tones generated by the processor's dedicated hardware audio peripheral. Volume is configured through the VectorAlert web interface. A mute function is available for situations where silent operation is preferred. A dedicated hardware amplifier delivers up to 2 Watts of clean audio output through the built-in speaker.

Status indicator

VectorAlert features a dedicated RGB LED status indicator providing instant at-a-glance awareness without needing to look at the main display. The LED colour changes with alert state for peripheral vision awareness. Brightness is automatically adjusted by the ambient light sensor — full brightness in daylight, dimmed at night to avoid distracting the driver.

Radio receiver

VectorAlert uses a dedicated digital radio receiver module operating in the 380–400 MHz emergency services band. The receiver scans all UK emergency service TETRA channels 16 times per second, ensuring no activity goes undetected. Receiver sensitivity is -116 dBm, enabling detection of both handheld and vehicle-mounted emergency service radios at distances of up to 1,000 metres under good conditions.

Processor

VectorAlert is powered by a dedicated 32-bit dual-core processor running at 240 MHz. All signal processing, display rendering, audio generation, GPS processing and web interface functionality runs on this single high-performance platform. There are no compromises in processing power — VectorAlert has the headroom to handle everything simultaneously without delay.

Power

VectorAlert operates from a standard USB 5V power source — any car USB adapter or 12V USB socket will power the device. Total system power consumption is approximately 700mW — equivalent to 140mA at 5V or 212mA at 3.3V internal operating voltage. VectorAlert will run comfortably from any USB port rated at 1A or above.

Connectivity

Power is supplied via a precision 4-pin magnetic pogo connector. The magnetic connection is self-aligning, requires no physical insertion force and leaves no exposed connector on the device — eliminating the dust ingress, pin damage and connector wear that affect conventional USB ports. Firmware updates are delivered wirelessly via the built-in WiFi interface — no cables or computers required.

Environmental monitoring

VectorAlert continuously monitors internal processor temperature. If operating temperature approaches safe limits an automatic warning is displayed on screen and the RGB status LED changes colour to alert the driver. The fully sealed case requires no ventilation openings — there are no gaps for dust or moisture to enter.

GPS

VectorAlert includes an integrated GPS receiver providing real-time speed display and position tracking. Current speed is shown permanently on the display, with speed-linked alert behaviour configurable through the web interface.

Mounting

VectorAlert is compatible with any standard magnetic car mount. The rear of the device incorporates a steel mounting ring that pairs securely with any magnetic dashboard or windscreen mount — giving you complete flexibility over positioning without proprietary accessories or brackets. The magnetic pogo power connector snaps on instantly with no exposed plug or socket on the device, eliminating connector wear, dust ingress and broken pins.

Why we engineered it this way

Magnetic pogo power

No connector to break, bend or fill with dust. The magnetic pogo connection snaps on instantly and disconnects cleanly. A connector that never wears out because it never makes physical contact.

Wireless everything

Configuration, updates and setup all done from your phone browser over WiFi. No cables, no apps, no pairing. Plug in, connect, done.

Adaptive display

The display intelligently adjusts to show exactly the right information for the situation. One target or multiple — VectorAlert always presents the clearest possible picture.
